Photo Report: The First Stone of K-Park Laid in Alatau City

The project was initiated by the Association of Koreans of Kazakhstan, timed to coincide with the 90th anniversary of the Korean diaspora in the country.
Akim of Almaty Region, Marat Sultangaziyev, emphasized the importance of the event: "We are starting a new city not with highways, but with a park. K-Park will become a place for leisure, cultural life, and a hub for investment. This will be a modern park for the residents of Almaty and nearby districts".
According to him, this cultural space marks the first step in building the city of the future.
"K-Park is symbolic both for the region and for the country. We are beginning a new stage with a cultural site that will become the core of the future city and a platform for investors. This is the first step toward turning Alatau City into a true center of innovation", stressed Marat Sultangaziyev.
"Our ancestors found a second home on Kazakh soil in 1937. This park is a gesture of gratitude to the Kazakh people for their help and the opportunity to live and thrive", highlighted Yuri Tskhay, Chairman of the Association of Koreans of Kazakhstan, as he reflected on the historical context of the event. "The project has been realized through the collective efforts of the entire Korean community: businesses, scholars, architects - all took part. This is our contribution to Kazakhstan’s development and, at the same time, a symbol of unity".
Deputy Chairman of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, Marat Azilkhanov, stated: "We are not just laying the first stone; we are opening a new chapter in the history of Kazakhstan’s unity. K-Park is not only an architectural site but also a symbol of harmony and mutual respect".
Yuri Kim, Chairman of the Business Club of the Association of Koreans of Kazakhstan, linked the project with the city’s future development: "Today, Alatau City is becoming a land of opportunity. We aim to create transparent and favorable conditions for investors so that the city transforms into a new center of capital, technology, and human potential".
Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Almaty, Ha Tae Wook, noted the significance of the project for both nations: "K-Park will stand as a symbol of memory of the past and aspiration for the future. Although Koreans make up only 0.6% of Kazakhstan’s population, their contribution to the country’s development is significant. This project will strengthen the friendship between our peoples".
"Alatau City and K-Park will become new boosters for Kazakhstan’s development. These projects will help the country emerge as a cultural and economic center of Central Asia and attract global attention", emphasized Kwak Samjoo, Deputy Director of the Agency for Overseas Koreans.
Welcoming remarks were also delivered by Member of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Vera Kim, Chairman of the Veterans’ Council of Almaty Region Yerbolat Turumbetov, and founder of BeWOMAN Asia Zhanna Kan.
K-Park is set to become the cultural heart and calling card of the new city. It will welcome its first visitors in 2027, marking the beginning of the ambitious vision of a modern Alatau City.
