The event brought together representatives from government, business, and academia of both countries to explore new avenues for cooperation and joint initiatives under the Alatau City project.

“As of today, over 800 Korean companies are successfully operating across Kazakhstan - in energy, construction, finance, healthcare, automotive and high-tech sectors. We are committed to expanding these partnerships further and actively welcome Korean industrial and energy companies to explore new opportunities. Kazakhstan is open to mutually beneficial cooperation, and we invite you to take part in our national project - Alatau City”, said Kanat Bozumbayev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, who oversees the project at the government level.

“The development of Alatau City is more than just an urban planning project - it is a clear declaration of Kazakhstan’s intent to move beyond a resource-based economy and make technology and services the new engines of growth. I fully support Kazakhstan on this bold journey and believe Alatau City will become a shining example of dynamic economic transformation”, - said Park Hong-keun, Chairman of the Korea–Kazakhstan Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Association.

He also noted: “The Republic of Korea places great value on its partnership with Kazakhstan. We are ready to be a trusted ally in making Alatau City the center of Kazakhstan’s future economy, drawing on our own experience in industrialization and technological advancement. Let this event mark a new starting point for friendship and cooperation between our nations”.

Yuriy Tskhay, Chairman of Caspian Group and the project’s lead developer, shared that Alatau City has been 18 years in the making and now enjoys full support from the President of Kazakhstan. The project envisions a city of the future powered by cutting-edge technologies – from artificial intelligence to urban air mobility.

Kwak Sang-eon, Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea and a representative of the MOTIE Committee, expressed his country’s readiness to take part in building Alatau City: "Kazakhstan’s choice of Korea as a key partner reflects a deep level of trust. Despite limited natural resources, Korea achieved the Miracle on the Han River thanks to the knowledge, technologies, and hard work of its people. We are ready to share this experience - in smart city development, infrastructure, technology, and digital solutions - to help Kazakhstan unlock the full potential of Alatau City. I hope Alatau City becomes a new center of economic growth for Kazakhstan, and that Korean companies and engineers will contribute meaningfully to its success".

President of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), Mr. Kim Sang-Hyup, shared personal reflections during his remarks at the forum. "A few years ago, I visited Almaty. I vividly remember the majestic Alatau mountains - colorful, alive, and deeply inspiring. That’s why the name Alatau has come to symbolize for me diversity and growth", he said.

Mr. Kim also recalled the Climate Summit in Samarkand held in April 2025, where President Tokayev unveiled Kazakhstan’s green vision for the future. "He spoke of the need to reform environmental legislation and build a new growth model rooted in green technologies and innovation. This is the essence of the Green Silk Road - a shift from resource dependency to sustainable development through clean energy, green transport, and eco-friendly industry. Kazakhstan, together with the Global Green Growth Institute, is laying the foundation for this new era. Alatau City embodies this philosophy - a city of the future that reflects the bold ambitions of both the country and the wider region", he concluded.

As part of the Roadshow program, panel sessions and discussions were held on hydrogen economy, low-altitude urban mobility, urban infrastructure development, and cultural and educational cooperation between Kazakhstan and South Korea.

Several MOUs were signed between Kazakhstan’s ministries and major Korean organizations including GGGI, Korea Airports Corporation, AAAG, and RETD.

The Kazakh delegation at the Roadshow included Kanat Bozumbayev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yuriy Tskhay, Member of the Alatau City Development Council, Chairman of the Board of Caspian Group, Vyacheslav Kim, Member of the Alatau City Development Council, Sole Shareholder of Alatau City Bank, Wong Heang Fine, Deputy Chairman of the Alatau City Development Council, Chairman of Asia Infrastructure Solutions Singapore.
