Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony for K-Park
“K-Park” – A Cultural Landmark in Alatau City
A major socio-cultural hub to be built in Almaty Region

On September 12, 2025, Alatau City will host the groundbreaking ceremony for the K-Park Cultural and Business Center, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Koreans living in Kazakhstan.
The project by the Association of Koreans of Kazakhstan is conceived as a symbol of respect and gratitude to the Kazakh people and the Kazakh land. Its authors emphasize the deep historical and cultural ties between Kazakhs and Koreans. Thanks to the boundless hospitality and generosity of the Kazakh people, Koreans have become an integral part of Kazakhstan’s society while preserving their cultural identity.
Funded entirely by private investment, the project is intended to become a new symbol of Alatau City and a model for cultural initiatives nationwide.
K-Park will be located 11 km from Almaty on a 10-hectare site within the Golden District - the emerging hub for education, healthcare, culture, and creative industries under the Alatau City master plan. The green area alone will span 40,000 m² - equal to 20% of all existing parks in Almaty Region.
Alongside the park, K-Park will feature cultural, artistic, and architectural spaces:
-
A memorial of gratitude to the Kazakh people;
-
An Identity Garden reflecting the shared roots of Kazakh and Korean cultures;
-
Historical reconstruction zones with a Korean hanok house and traditional sculptures, where visitors can explore Korea’s ancient history;
-
A Koryo Saram zone showcasing the life of Kazakhstani Koreans;
-
The Tree of Life art installation;
-
A library;
-
An interactive museum, and more.
A research group from South Korea, including art historians, sculptors, artisans, and carpenters, is responsible for the accurate historical reconstruction of cultural objects within K-Park.
The venue will host cultural events, art festivals, and concerts. Accessibility will help address the shortage of leisure spaces in Almaty Region and Almaty city. Preliminary estimates suggest K-Park will attract up to 3.5 million visitors annually.
