UrbanV and Alatau Advance Air Group to Build Flying Taxi Infrastructure in Alatau City

The collaboration will begin with an ambitious step - the design of a test and demonstration center in Alatau City. This hub will serve as a critical element of infrastructure for early testing and showcasing of eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) technologies. The initiative marks an important milestone in Kazakhstan’s journey toward becoming a regional hub for advanced technology and sustainable mobility.
In November, AAAG signed an agreement with U.S.-based Joby Aviation, a global leader in eVTOL technology, whose aircraft are planned to be deployed for an environmentally friendly air taxi network between Alatau City and Almaty. The vertiport infrastructure project will lay the foundation for the practical rollout of these solutions.
“We are delighted to work with AAAG on a project that contributes to building a safer, more connected, and more sustainable form of mobility. Kazakhstan is investing with ambition and vision in the future of AAM, and UrbanV is ready to bring its international experience to support this important transformation,” - said Ivan Bassato, Chairman of the Board, UrbanV.
The project will also involve the participation of Korea Airports Corporation (KAC). In October 2025, during the Alatau Rise With Kazakhstan roadshow in Seoul, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, KAC, and Alatau Advance Air Group Ltd. The involvement of KAC will help bring best-in-class global practices in airport infrastructure and passenger flow management to Alatau City.
UrbanV is a global operator of infrastructure for advanced air mobility (AAM), headquartered in Rome. Founded in 2021 by a consortium of leading airport operators - Aeroporti di Roma (Rome), SAVE Group (Venice), Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur (Nice), and Aeroporto di Bologna (Bologna) - UrbanV specializes in the design, construction, and operation of vertiports, dedicated facilities for electric vertical take-off and landing vehicles (eVTOLs). In 2022, UrbanV launched Italy’s first test vertiport at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport, becoming one of the world’s pioneers in developing ground infrastructure for innovative aviation.
